Families enjoy Good Friday fairground fun at Ocean Beach Pleasure Park

It was all the fun of the fair in South Shields as families and youngsters packed out Ocean Beach Pleasure Park.

Despite the dark clouds and at times gloomy weather, crowds headed down to the seafront venue to enjoy an array of rides and try their luck in the amusement arcades.

As music blared from the speakers, the screams of youngsters could still be heard as they braved some of the move adventurous rides.

The big wheel was also open to visitors, giving them the chance to take in breathtaking views of the South Shields coastline

Michael Sheeran, operator at Ocean Beach, said: “It’s great to see families enjoying themselves and that the great British weather hasn’t put people off coming out.

“I’m looking forward to a good Easter holiday and welcoming some new rides within the next few months.

“The Big Wheel has been a big attraction with feedback being very positive.”

Julia Williams, from Walker in Newcastle, was enjoying the fair with her children, Russell, 11, Harvey, nine and Olivia, five.

She said: “We come all the time when it’s open. The kids love it and it’s something they get excited about and it’s reasonably priced.

“We have been coming for a good few years now, and it doesn’t really matter that the weather isn’t that good. A bit of rain doesn’t hurt anyone.”

Ocean Beach Pleasure Beach will be open throughout the Easter break from 11am.
