A village’s sixth annual funday went down a storm with residents
Scores of people turned out to the event which was held at Grange Park in East Boldon.
The old and the young had the chance to enjoy everything from belly dancing displays to dog training.
Coun Joan Atkinson, the Labour representative for Cleadon and East Boldon, said: “This is the sixth annual funday organised by the Friends of East Boldon Parks group.
“The group arranges a number of events throughout the year to involve the community, bringing them together and to raise funds for new play equipment or to improve the parks.”
The tea tent proved as popular as ever as keen bakers had donated dozens of homemade cakes, scones and biscuits.
Stalls included homemade lemonade, the Parent Teacher Association’s tombola, Cancer Research’s jams and preserves, Taylor Made Classes’ craft table for children and the Rainbows’ soft toy tombola.
A number of local businesses including Gordon’s Butchers, Smilers Newsagents, Relax and Glow and Daniela’s Fish Bar also donated raffle prizes.
The event was ended with the customs tug o’ war and egg throwing competitions.
