Fire crews have been called to a house fire in Simonside, South Shields caused by an over heating television.
Two engines from South Shields and one engine from Hebburn were called to a two -storey property on St Simon Street, in Simonside, South Shields , around 7.15pm.
When crews arrived the upper floor of the property was on fire and crews tackled the blaze using two hose reel jets and breathing apparatus.
One dog was rescued from the property but no residents were inside the property at the time, so no one was injured.
Crews investigating the cause of the fire found it was caused by an over heating television.
Northumbria Police and the North East Ambulance Service were also in attendance and fire crews left the scene at 8.30pm.
Watch manager James Ferguson advised the public to never leave a TV plugged in and switched on. He asked the public to make sure they have smoke alarms fitted in their properties.
