Firefighters had to smash the windows of the Next clothing store in South Shields today to stop them being blown out by the wind.
A crew from the town's fire station was called to the store in Waterloo Place, Coromation Street, at about 2.30pm amid safety concerns.
Crew manager Bryn Hanson said: "The full window panes had blown out of the window and the whole big window frames as well.
"We broke the panes so they could not blow out any more and then the frames themselves were tied off inside the structure."
