Personal trainers Karleigh Wright and Adam Shaw have teamed up to organise The Fitness Games.
The event well see more than 20 fitness classes running back to back at Whitburn C of E Academy.
People can visit the school, in Shanks Road, on Sunday, July 3, in the hope of finding a class they love.
Karleigh, who runs KW Fitness, said: “The school has state-of-the-art fitness facilities so it’s a great place to have this event.
“I don’t think people realise how many different types of classes are on offer in the North East.
“We’re going to have over 20 classes going on throughout the day, with stuff like clubbercise, kettlebells, zumba, and vera flow, all the latest and traditional types of fitness classes.
“People can try up to seven of them and the hope is that people will find ones they love. All the coaches are local so if you find a class you love, you can sign up for it there and then.”
The 26-year-old, from Jarrow, added: “Some people might not do classes because they don’t know what’s out there and don’t think there’s anything that’s right for them, but they could come along to this event, find three classes they really love and if they do them every week they’ll lose that weight they want to and feel so much better about themselves.
“Exercise doesn’t have to be a chore, it can be a lot of fun and a way to make new friends.”
Adam, who runs Shaw Sport and Fitness, came up with the idea.
The 26-year-old, from Boldon Colliery, said: “I held a similar event last year and it was a big success. The idea is to create an event that appeals to local people who are interested in fitness.
“It’s a chance for beginners to find out what’s available without the pressure of going into a gym and being put on the spot to sign up, or for people who are really into fitness to challenge themselves to get through as many classes as they can in one day.
“There are so many different styles of classes on offer in the area, and this is a chance for people to check them all out under one roof.”
Tickets cost £25, which includes up to seven classes, a goodie bag including a protein shake, and use of a pop-up massage centre.
Health and fitness-related businesses will also have stalls at the event.
The event runs from 9.30am to 3.30pm.
