Fog warnings as misty weather cools down mini-heatwave in the North East

Drivers were warned to take care on the roads this morning as visibility was dramatically reduced by the weather conditions.

But Met Office forecasters say it won't last for most areas, with the mist and low cloud beaten back to the coast and a dry, sunny day following.

It is expected to become very warm inland with temperatures of up to 27 °C, though the coastline will be cooler with onshore breezes.

It will remain warm and sunny through the evening, with light winds and overnight, it will remain dry, although low cloud in coastal areas may spread back inland and temperatures could fall to 10 °C.

Thursday will again see any early mist and low cloud soon clearing to leave another dry day with plenty of sunshine. It will be very warm inland again, and just a little cooler near the coast, with temperatures reaching up to 28 °C.

The outlook for the weekend is for plenty of sunny spells through the day with warm or very warm temperatures inland, but cooler near the coast with onshore breezes. Mist and low cloud may encroach inland during overnight periods.
