A surprise presentation was held for the pair, who are the firm’s longest-serving members of staff, by managing director, Michael Dickson and his wife Marisa.
Mr Dickson said: “It is with regret and the fondest of memories that we wave goodbye to two members of staff who have shown unwavering support to Dicksons and our customers.
“We are losing two well-loved colleagues who have been part of the Dicksons family since the 1980s.
“Moira’s true professionalism has made her an iconic presence in our business over her 32 years. Always ready to challenge and offer opinions and ideas, Moira has skilfully managed a number of retail sites for us during her long service and both staff and customers will miss her presence in our stores.
“Dorothy’s friendly, efficient manner as both a supervisor and a manager during her 26-year career means she will be a huge loss to our business but also to her regular customers who I’m sure will miss her friendly face in Dicksons shops.”
“We’re truly grateful for the loyalty and dedication of all of our long-serving members of staff and we can’t thank Dorothy and Moira enough for all that they have given to Dicksons in their decades of loyal service. I hope they enjoy a well-deserved rest and wish them a long and happy retirement.”
The two women, Moira and Dorothy, who worked for the company for 32 and 26 years respectively, worked in various shops owned by Dicksons throughout their working career.
They were presented with their bouquet during a shift at the store in Prince Edward Road, South Shields.
Mr Dickson added: “Dicksons has been a family business for 62 years and while we value the commitment of all our staff, those who choose to have such a long-term career with us have to hold a special place in our heart.”
