Football club in deal with sports giant

A South Tyneside football club is going from strength to strength after securing a deal with sports giant 
Nike.

Harton and Westoe Juniors is one of around 100 clubs across the country chosen by the brand to benefit from a host of special deals and funding.

We are really hoping to take the club to the next level and being able to secure this deal will hopefully help us to achieve that.

Already, a number of its players have started their coaching badges thanks to cash donated by Nike.

Phil Catley, chairman of the club which has teams ranging from four to adults, said: “Since entering the sponsorship deal with Nike they have been so supportive and as a club it has really helped us.

“The money they have given us towards the coaching badges has been a massive help and it has also given the club a huge lift.

“We are really hoping to take the club to the next level and being able to secure this deal will hopefully help us to achieve that.

“I’d like to say thank you to Ben Harding from Nike, who has been so helpful and has given us so much support.”

The deal will last four years and will see players wearing kits made by 
Nike.

The club has a range of teams including running a girls football session. The club, which now has more than 400 players of various ages, has recently secured funding from North East roofing for its juniors team after the company answered a plea from the club for sponsors.

Mr Catley, added: “It has been amazing the support we have received.”

The club has teams catering for youngsters as young as four to into their teens with 90 per cent of the teams competing in the Russell Foster League.
