It happened at around 4am on Sunday, when police received a report that a BMW 3 series had been involved in a crash at the roundabout junction of the Redheugh Bridge and Askew Road West.

A 17-year-old male was pronounced dead by paramedics at the scene while two other men were taken to hospital for non-life threatening injuries.

Inquiries have been on-going throughout the evening and police have now arrested four men in connection with the incident.

Sergeant Steve Armstrong, of the Operations Department, said: "This is a tragic incident and we are still trying to establish the exact circumstances as to what happened yesterday morning.

"Specialist officers are working closely with his family at this difficult time and we ask that people respect their privacy as our inquiries continue."
