Durham Constabulary has said the crash has happened near Junction 62 near Carrville on the northbound route.The force says "Officers are currently on scene dealing with a four vehicle RTC Northbound.
"Delays expected. Please be mindful when planning your journey. Thanks."
The scene has now cleared and traffic is starting to flow as normal.
