Ooh La La – a Parisian-themed cafe promises to be an Eiffel lot of fun for cat lovers.
Willows Cat Adoption Centre in Wantage Street, South Shields, is hosting a special French-style cat cafe to celebrate Bastille Day on Saturday, July 11.
Charity founder Maria Harrison decided to organise the event in a bid to rehouse some of her cats while marking France’s national day, which officially takes places on July 14.
She said: “It will be an indulgent hour with cafetières and Parisian-style pastries like Madeleine’s and Apple Tarte Tatin with crème Chantilly, all in the company of our fabulous felines awaiting adoption.
“People will be able to enjoy some delicious treats while having the chance to meet our gorgeous cats who are looking for their forever families.
“What better what to spend a Saturday?”
The shelter’s volunteers will be dressed up as French waiters to serve guests who can book an hour-long sitting at either 11am, noon, 1pm, 2pm or 3pm.
There will also be Willows’ friendship bands on sale, a raffle, and free bubbles and balloons for children.
Maria said: “This event will be la crème de la crème. There will be a £5 charge per person and all of the money raised goes back into our rescue ‘kitty’ to help save more homeless, neglected and unwanted cats.
“Places are limited so we urge people to ring up and book a slot so they won’t be left disappointed.”

Willows’ regular cat cafe will also be continuing every Monday from 11am to 2pm.
