As well as a spectacle in the skies, there will be fun on the ground at this year’s airshow.

The Roker Park Family Zone will feature a host of mini thrill activities, from zip wires and zorbing to mini tanks and exotic creatures.

Families in Roker Park Family Zone will also be invited to get active as Change4Life and Disney’s 10 Minute Shake Up roadshow comes to the Sunderland International Airshow.

Change4Life has teamed up with Disney to inspire kids to get active with the launch of the new 10 Minute Shake Up campaign featuring some of their favourite Disney characters and stories.

Coun John Kelly, Sunderland city council’s Portfolio Holder for Public Health, Wellness and Culture, said: “It is becoming ever more important for young people to be active, and have fun while getting fit. This is a fantastic opportunity to come along to the airshow and try out some fantastic activities which are designed to inspire kids, and give parents and grandparents lots of great ideas to keep their kids busy over the summer holidays.”

Children will be able to try out lots of new Disney-inspired games and activities including Frozen: Build a Summer Snowman relay, Monsters Hopper Toxic Challenge, the Stickball Blitz Big Hero 6 throwing game and a Toy Story assault course.

All the activities will be housed in a Change4Life 10 Minute Shake Up Zone so kids and their families can team up and complete the games together.

There will be plenty of extreme action on the beach at Seaburn.

To round Saturday and Sunday off in style there will be a military demonstration showing the versatility of British Armed Forces.
