Community and voluntary groups are being given a helping hand when it comes to looking for funding.

The Council for Voluntary Service is bringing together a number of grant-making bodies under one roof to meet with those seeking funding.

The event is ideal for groups who are just starting up or who are looking for new avenues of funding.

The event is the second organised by CVS based in Beach Road, South Shields, in a bid to help groups see the range of funding currently available.

Already, the Big Lottery, The Community Foundation and Lloyds Foundation, have signed up to the event which will take place at South Shields Central Library in Prince Georg Square on Wednesday September 23.

As well as help and advice on funding opportunities, people who are also looking for volunteering opportunities can also come along and find out more about what is available.

Information co-ordinator Billy Tindle, said: “Our last event was a huge success with around 80 different organisations represented.

“The event is ideal for groups who are just starting up or who are looking for new avenues of funding.

“People can come in and have a chat and just find out more about the opportunities available within the community and voluntary sector within South Tyneside.”

The CVS provides a range of services to help and support the third sector including end of year accounts examinations, reception and admin services, payroll services as well as advice and information.

The funding event will take place from 1pm until 5pm.
