Brian and Val’s exhibition, Sweet Dreams of Contentment, is currently on display in the Port of Tyne Gallery.

It’s a collaboration with their friend and musician, Pete Scott. Headphones and MP3 players are available, so visitors can listen to Pete’s music while looking at Brian and Val’s work.

Brian said: “We’ve produced paintings and collages inspired by the ideas and songs of Pete, and he’s written and produced songs based on our visual work.”

Much of Brian’s work is based on collages.

Brian, originally a sculptor, trained at the Chelsea School of Art and has exhibited across the UK, Europe and the USA. His works are digital prints from hand-made collages of photographs that are then reworked with mixed techniques and media. Val also produces collages, combining them with more traditional images of birds, plants and flowers. Pete’s work is very much rooted in North East culture and he has performed on BBC TV and radio, and at the bi-annual Sunday for Sammy concert at Newcastle City Hall.
