The depot, in Dean Road, South Shields, has decorated the new vehicles with pictures of a funfair, pirates and a seaside design.

Now the firm is inviting people to send in photos of themselves – along with the reasons why they should win.

The winners will be chosen based on the best combination of photos and stories and then take part in a photoshoot.

The enlarged photo will appear on buses running along the E1, E2 and E6 routes.

Brian Sleightholme, operations manager at the firm’s South Shields depot, said: “The new designs are fun and perfect to brighten up the buses during the gloomy winter season, with themes that reflect this well loved coastal community.

“We’re looking forward to seeing what wacky and wonderful photos and stories the people of South Shields send in.”

To enter the competition, e-mail your photo and your story in no more than 150 words to northeast.enquiries@stagecoachbus.com with ‘My face on a bus competition’ as the subject or post to My face on a bus competition, Stagecoach North East, Wheatsheaf, Sunderland, SR5 1AQ, by the end of December.
