Gifts flooding in to Gazette Toy Appeal

Our toy appeal has got off to a great start thanks to your generosity.

Bags full of gifts have already been collected from our designated drop off point, ready to be wrapped and given to some of the poorest and most disadvanted children and young people on South Tyneside. Your gifts will mean that families who thought they had little hope of any festive cheer will wake on Christmas morning with parcels to open.

Thanks too to your generosity, almost 400 disabled and disadvanted youngsters were able to have a great time at the Christmas party, hosted by the charity, Hope4Kidz, held in Illusions Nightclub in Sunderland on Sunday,December 6,

Viv Watts, from Hope4Kidz, said: “It was wonderful. The kids had a great time. We had just under 400 guests attend, who were entertained by balloon artists, face painters and a magician, petting zoo and a bouncy castle. The children were greeted by ‘super heroes’ and ‘princesses’ before receiving their party hats. here were lots of games and dancing followed by the massive buffet.”

At the end of the party every child had their photo taken with Santa before receiving selection box to take home.

Anyone wishing to donate to our appeal can do so at our collection point D&H Windows, Tudor Road, South Shields. The last day for donations is Friday, December 18.
