Golfers chip in for wheelchair after plea from South Tyneside physiotherapist

Thanks to the help of a South Tyneside physiotherapist a disabled youngsters is to be given a top-of-the-range powered wheelchair.

 Kirsty Spowart was nominated by Jacquie Etherington, from South Tyneside Physiotherapy Services,Tracey Peters, from South Tyneside Learning Disability Services, and Carole Watson, of South Tyneside Health Focus Group, to receive a cheque for £1,700 from 2015 Heworth Golf Club Captain Brian Weston.

The cash was raised by club members during Brian’s year as captain. Their generosity, however, didn’t end there.

After Kirsty and her mother Christine were guests at the Heworth club’s Christmas party for people with learning or physical disabilities for the cheque hand over, the club managed to raise another another £2,000, which will to cover the full cost of the wheelchair.
