'˜A great fan and a great lad' '“ tributes continue for Newcastle superfan Cliffy Ahmed

More tributes have been paid to South Shields NUFC superfan Cliffy Ahmed following his sudden death.

The 57-year-old suffered a cardiac arrest just yards from St James's Park after Tuesday's 3-3 draw with Manchester United.

He had been for a post-match pint in Nine Bar behind the Gallowgate but was later found lying behind the nearby Strawberry pub. He died the following day in the city's Royal Victoria Infirmary.

Forzatoon wrote: "So sad. Cliffy was a great fan and a great lad.

"My son always looked out for him in the crowd at away matches since he was 5. RIP Cliffy. Thinking that the club should have a minutes applause for him?"

Stevey Hailstone posted: "Absolutely brilliant lad he came and sat with a few of us before and after the game in Shearers told some cracking stories about following the TOON brilliant laugh I was wondering where he was yesterday until I was told about his passing RIP Cliff you will be missed xx"

Meanwhile, more tributes continued to be left on social media from fans saddened by news of Cliffy's death.
