A FORMER gymnast has launched her own sessions after being inundated with requests from youngsters.
Louise Scott runs gymnastic classes in schools throughout South Tyneside but, after being approached by parents of youngsters who enjoy her sessions, she was persuaded to launch an after-school club.

Three years on, the 32-year-old has seen numbers rise to a level where she has opened a second club in Jarrow.
Miss Scott, from Westoe Crown Village, South Shields, was one of a team of gymnasts from the area to be invited to a training camp in Ukraine as a teenager and spent 15 years learning the skills needed to compete in high-level contests.
She said: “I have always been interested in gymnastics, so when I started offering personal training people asked me about it.
“I’d been doing sessions in schools and was approached by parents to run an after-school club. After a lot of thought I set classes up.
“The sessions have gone really well, more than I ever thought they would, with young people coming back week on week.”
The sessions are not geared towards competitions but more of helping to improve a child’s balance, flexibility and co-ordination.
Miss Scott added: “The sessions are more fun as the pressure of competitions is not there.
“All our work is done on the mats with movements aimed at improving co-ordination, flexibility and their core strength, with a few fun games thrown in.”
During the 45-minute sessions the youngsters will take part in solo work, partner work and team work to help boost their confidence.
The classes are held on Tuesdays in St Peter’s Church hall in Sunderland Road, South Shields, from 4pm to 4.30pm for those aged three to six and 4.30pm to 5pm for those aged seven to 12.
On Thursdays classes are held at Attic Dance Studio within the Viking Centre, Jarrow, from 4.15pm to 4.45pm for three to six-year-olds and 4.45pm to 5.15pm for those aged seven to 12.
Next month, Miss Scott, who also runs her own personal fitness classes Witness the Fitness, is also hoping to launch adult classes using the ethos behind gymnastics to help people improve their flexibility and strength.
These sessions will be held on Tuesdays within the Hedworth Hall in Dean Road, South Shields, from 7pm.
She added: “These sessions will be open to both men and women and are open to people of all abilities.
“They would also help those who are into martial arts by improving their flexibility.”
