BARGAIN hunters are being offered a treat with a South Tyneside cancer charity’s latest fundraiser.

Cancer Connections is hosting a handbags and gladrags event at its headquarters in Harton Lane, South Shields, on Monday.

The sale of new and pre-owned clothing, shoes bags and accessories is one of a number of fundraising events to help boost the charity’s coffers.

Each year, the team have to raise £100,000 to enable the charity to carry on delivering help, support and advice to people diagnosed with cancer and their families.

Co-founder of the charity, Deborah Roberts, said: “Cancer Connections relies heavily on donations to keep going and every year we are amazed and so grateful for the generous donations we receive from the people and businesses of South Tyneside.

“But we need to keep raising funds to ensure the services we offer can continue to be delivered to those who need it. For a lot of people Cancer Connections has become a sanctuary, a place where they can come and be themselves and people understand what they are going through.

“Our fundraising events, as well as generous donations, are what keeps us going and hopefully our latest fundraiser will appeal to those looking to pick up a bargain.”

The event will be held from 5.30pm until 8pm.
