A WEIGHT loss expert has been given a special award for the work she does to help slimmers in South Tyneside.
Sharon Simpson has been awarded Silver status by Slimming World.
The mum-of-two, of Beacon Glade, South Shields, runs Slimming World groups at the New Crown pub in the town’s Mowbray Road.
Sharon was given the accolade by the club to recognise her success in helping more than 100 people to lose weight every week.
She said: “I am delighted to have received the Silver award for the New Crown group. I feel passionately about helping people to transform their lives by losing weight in the same way that I did when I lost two stone in 2012.
“Losing weight made me feel happier and healthier and gave me so much more confidence. I became a consultant because I wanted to share that feeling and help other people to achieve the same success I had myself.
“Seeing the members in my groups– mams, dads, grandmas and young people too – reach their target weight is so rewarding and receiving this award is just the icing on the cake.
“This award belongs to the New Crown group’s 150 members. They’re the ones who make our group the success that it is, with their fabulous commitment, the wonderful support they give each other every week, and, obviously, their impressive weight losses while following Slimming World’s Food Optimising eating plan.
“The group has really put healthy weight loss on the map in South Shields. Together, they’ve lost an amazing 55 stone so far this year.”
If Sharon continues her success for a number of months, she’ll swap her silver award for a gold standard.
She added: “I’m over the moon to have become a Silver Consultant and now I’m going for Gold, although I feel like I’ve already struck gold – I have a healthy figure, a fabulous job that I love and great friends in the members.”
To join the New Crown group, which is held every Friday at 9am and 11am, with a new group opening February 25 at 7pm, either pop along or give Sharon a call on 07765 253342.
