Fitness expert Joe Sexton is currying favour with fitness fans by whipping up super- healthy meals that taste as good as takeaways.
The 26-year-old personal trainer, from Laygate, South Shields, has been getting thousands of hits on his online cooking videos.
The dad-of-one, a healthy cooking fanatic, is working to become an expert in the field and hopes one day to have his own TV cookery show.
He said: “Everyone thinks healthy food is boring and you can only eat so many salads before you’re giving up and phoning for a pizza.
“I love junk food so I totally understand how hard it is to stick to healthy eating, that’s why I wanted to do these videos. I wanted to find a way of making healthy food that tastes as good as junk food.”
So far, Joe has posted two tantalising Fat Loss Feast recipes for lime and coconut chicken and a trio of burgers through his School of Weight Loss Facebook page.
He plans to upload one cookery video a week, sharing the recipes with those who want to give them a try, as well as one video blog a week, talking about body image, how to eat healthy with a baby, and other things to help people get motivated.
Joe said: “The recipes have to taste good and be quick to make. People should be excited about trying them while they’re cooking, because otherwise they’ll just want to reach for the phone and call a takeaway.
“The recipes are suitable for the whole family to eat and most of them will be fine for batch cooking as well so people who are busy can cook up a few days’ worth in one go.”
He added: “I couldn’t believe how many hits the videos starting getting straight away. I was expecting to get maybe 1,000 people watching them, but the first video I posted shot up to 9,000 views practically overnight.

“I’ve had great feedback from the people who’ve been trying the recipes as well, and it’s not just people from the North East, people all over the country are watching them and giving it a go in the kitchen.
“I want everyone to know that healthy food can be tasty and they can enjoy them – the best kind of diet is the one you don’t realise you’re on.
“My dream is to have my own TV cookery show one day. I’d love that.”
Joe is also working to support a healthy body image through his videos.
He said: “It’s not all about losing weight, it’s about being healthy and happy in your own skin.
“People shouldn’t look at people on TV, in movies and magazines and think that’s what they should look like because it’s not real.
“Not everyone has time to look like that, and as long as you’re comfortable that’s all that matters. I want people to be able to use my videos to be able to eat that bit healthier and enjoy doing it.”
