Heating equipment manufacturer Vaillant has come to the aid of Cancer Connections after an extension at its base in Harton Lane, South Shields, led to its current boiler no longer being fit for purpose.

The donation was made after the charity appealed to the company for assistance.

A new Vaillant ecoTEC plus 938 combination boiler was installed, which now takes care of the property’s heating and hot water system.

Coun John Anglin, director of Cancer Connections, said: “We are exceptionally grateful to Vaillant for donating a new combination boiler to help heat
our newly extended premises.

“The extension means we can provide support to even more individuals and families who have been affected by cancer, and with a new Vaillant boiler, we can keep them feeling warm and cosy.”

Cancer Connections provides help and support to people affected by cancer and their families by providing a “home from home”, where they can go to access a support network of staff and volunteers.

Mark Meade, northern divisional service manager for Vaillant, said: “Knowing all the great work Cancer Connections does for the local community, we were keen to show our support with the donation of a new boiler.

“Designed for larger homes, the combination boiler can cope with higher hot water demand, which is perfect for properties with lots of visitors.”
