Hebburn comedian Jason Cook has recruited his comedy pals to help refugees.

He’s set to host a fundraising gala at The Stand comedy club in High Bridge, Newcastle tomorrow .

The Medecins Sand Frontieres Charity Gala kicks off at 2pm and will fetaure performances from Jason, Steffen Peddie, who starred alongside Jason in his BBC sitcom Hebburn, Alfie Joey, Danny Mcloughlin, Jarrow comic Carl Hutchinson, David Trent and a special guest.

The event will raise funds for the organisation, also known as Doctors Without Borders, to help the thousands of people fleeing violence and persecution in their home countries and attempting the treacherous journey across the Mediterranean to reach Europe.

In 2014, more than 3,400 are believed to have died during the crossing.

The charity has a team of six people providing post-rescue care on board a search and rescue vessel.

Tickets cost £8. To book, call 0191 300 9700.
