Hebburn’s First XI travelled to Blagdon Park and with the home side choosing to bat first.

That looked to be a good decision as Blagdon steadily added runs to their total.

However, Hebburn slowly began to take wickets, with Ian Younger the pick of the bowlers taking 4-44.

Blagdon opener Leybourne went on to score 108 to take them to 242 from their 50 overs which looked a very good score.

In reply, Hebburn got off to a superb start with opener Gary Taylor scoring 40 in a good partnership with captain Rhys Warburton, who scored an important 56.

Hebburn made things difficult for themselves when they lost some middle order wickets, but Jack Hayden hung around to score 33 and it was then left to Lee Tatum again to blast Hebburn over the line, scoring a quick-fire 55.

Hebburn reached their target with six overs remaining.

The Second XI hosted Civil Service on Saturday and decided to bowl first on a lively pitch.

Hebburn struggled to take an early wicket with the opening partnership putting on 50 before Andrew Crawford struck.

Hebburn then contained the runs and started to take wickets, with David Berry taking three and Brian Watson four to bowl Civil Service out for just 122.

In reply, Hebburn were confident of reaching their target, but got off to the worst possible start, losing both openers early.

From then on, the wickets continued to fall with none of the top order batsman contributing.

The game looked to be gone when David Berry and Brian Watson came to the crease at 50-9.

However, slowly but surely, Berry started adding runs until it became possible that Hebburn might actually win.

Supported ably by Brian Watson, Berry got Hebburn over the line, finishing on 57 not out to claim a miraculous comeback.
