Hilton hotel pays tribute to 'wonderful' young couple who 'brought so much happiness'

One of the region's top hotels has paid tribute to Chloe Rutherford and Liam Curry, whose deaths in the Manchester bombing were confirmed overnight.

The teenage sweethearts, who had travelled from South Shields to the Ariana Grande concert at the Manchester Arena, were among the 22 victims of the suicide bomb attack.

The busy couple both worked together at the Hilton hotel in Gateshead on top of their other work and study comittments, and were valued members of the team

Martin Robinson, general manager at Hilton Newcastle Gateshead, said: “It is with the utmost sadness that we have been informed that two of our youngest team members, Liam Curry and Chloe Rutherford, have been confirmed as amongst the victims of Monday’s tragic attack in Manchester.

"Our deepest condolences are with the family and friends of Liam and Chloe at this very difficult time.

"Everyone at the hotel will remember two wonderful members of our team, who brought so much happiness to those around them and who will be very sadly missed.

"My management team and I are providing support to our team members and the families of Liam and Chloe, with whom we remain in constant contact."
