Hospital chiefs prepare for latest junior doctors' walkout

The walkout by junior doctors, who are in a dispute over contracts, will be taking place between 8am on Wednesday to 8am on Friday.

Ian Frame, South Tyneside NHS Foundation Trust’s Executive Director for personnel and development, said: “Our intention is to provide as normal a service as possible. Where outpatient appointments or procedures have had to cancelled due to the proposed action, which will involve junior doctors providing emergency care only, we have informed the patients concerned and we apologise to them and their families and carers for the inconvenience. All other patients should attend as planned.

“It is particularly important in the circumstances for the public to remember that A&E is for serious and life-threatening injuries and conditions only.”
