Patients and visitors are now sitting more comfortably.

And it’s all thanks to The League of Friends of South Tyneside Hospitals donated £3,500 for café chairs and tables.

South Tyneside NHS Foundation Trust’s Head of Facilities, Kim Mansfield, said: “We are very grateful for this support from the League of Friends.

“The new furniture has given the café in South Tyneside District Hospital’s Ingham Wing main entrance a much-needed boost.

“The café is very well used and is in an area that many visitors and patients walk past, so it is really important that it is comfortable and welcoming.

“The old furniture was mis-matched and worn and it is fantastic that we have been able to replace it.”
