Hot weather set to continue in North East - but enjoy it while it lasts

Temperatures are expected to stay high this week following the recent heatwave.

Our region has seen highs of 25 °C in the past few days, with almost constant sunshine during daytime hours.

And forecasters with the Met Office say they expect it to continue, although there could be showers later on in the week.

Forecasters are predicting that this evening will be dry with long clear spells and light winds across the North East this evening and overnight.

However the odd mist patch may affect some coastal parts.

The minimum temperature could be about 9 °C.

Monday is expected to be another dry and mostly sunny day, although some more extensive mist and low cloud is likely near coasts later.

Very warm inland although sea breezes keeping coastal parts cooler.

The maximum temperature could be 23 °C.

And Tuesday to Thursday should be mostly dry and very warm with long sunny spells, but with the odd shower possible on Wednesday and Thursday.

Cooler and cloudier at times near the coast with onshore breezes.
