Inquest opened into death of Sally Allan

An inquest was today opened into the death of a missing woman whose body was found in the River Tyne.

Sally Allan sparked a region-wide search when she went missing from her home in Ponteland on Boxing Day.

The 59-year-old’s body was discovered by police searching for her in water near to the riverside in Jarrow on Wednesday, February 3.

South Tyneside coroner Terence Carney opened and adjourned the inquest until March 21.

Sally had left her home in Ponteland and was last seen on CCTV on Newcastle’s Quayside on Boxing Day morning.
