Jail for man who stole gammon and watches - and other South Tyneside court cases

Craig Nicholson, 37, of Hedley Close, South Shields, was jailed for 18 weeks and ordered to pay compensation of £637.85 after admitting stealing five gammon joints from Asda, in North Road, Boldon Colliery, on Thursday, January 28, and entering Argos in South Tyneside and stealing watches to the value of £537.88 on Saturday, February 6.

Carly Earl, 27, of Dacre Street, South Shields, was banned from driving for 18 months and fined £200 after admitting driving while disqualified in Queen Street, Sunderland, on Wednesday, December 23.

She was also ordered to pay prosecution costs of £85.

Nicola Martin, 49, of Owen Drive, West Boldon, was fined £240 and banned from driving for 17 months after admitting failing to provide a specimen of breath for analysis in Owen Drive, West Boldon, on Sunday, October 25.

She was also ordered to pay prosecution costs of £550 and a £24 victim surcharge.

Anthony Jefferson, 30, of Whitehead Street, South Shields, was given a 12-month community order and must keep to a two-week electronically-monitored curfew after admitting an assault, theft of a baseball cap and causing criminal damage to a VW Passat vehicle, all in South Tyneside on Friday, June 12.

He was also ordered to pay a total of £350 compensation and a £60 victim surcharge.

James Cunningham, 38, of no fixed abode, was fined £50 after admitting breaching a domestic violence protection order on February 3.

Nathan Williams, 18, of Brewery Court, Chester-le-Street, County Durham, was given a 12-month conditional discharge after admitting using threatening, abusive or insulting words or behaviour in South Tyneside on Thursday, August 6.

He was also ordered to pay £85 prosecution costs and a £15 victim surcharge.
