Staff at a South Tyneside chemist have been taking their customers to Wonderland in support of a borough chemist.

Workers at Boustead Chemist, in Jarrow, have been dressed up as characters from Alice in Wonderland as part of St Clare’s Hospice’s Tea at 3 campaign.

They raised £750 by dressing at the kooky characters for a whole week while working at the chemist, in Albert Road.

They also sold cakes and treats to customers and had their fundraising matched by the business’s owner Mark Burdon.

Staff member Julie Muir, an accredited checking technician, said: “It was Mark who told us about St Clare’s Tea at 3 campaign and we thought it would be great to go the extra mile and dress up too.

“St Clare’s is a charity that we support regularly as it is a local cause that is close to people’s hearts. Some of the staff have had friends who have been cared for at the hospice.”
