The veteran, who consistently performs successfully in her age category, goes for gold in the over 45 race In Tollcross Park.

Scotland and Wales are also in opposition.

Angela McGurk, from the Jarrow club, is reserve for the over 35 event.

Also tomorrow Jarrow and Hebburn AC and South Tyneside Council promote their Winter Indoor Grand Prix Series for Young and Minor Athletes at Monkton Stadium.

Races will be held for ages from under 9, 10, 11, 13 and 15 for boys and girls over 60m, 300m, 450m and 600m.

All fínallísts receive prizes and points are awarded from eight for first to two in fourth place with the overall champions from the four monthly meetings with December, January and March to follow, gaining trophies

Races for under 17 and 20 girls and boys are included on the programme but do not count in the Grand Prix Series.

The heats of the under nine girls 60m open the meeting at 930am.

On Sunday, Heaton Harriers hold their Memorial 10km Road Race in Exhibition Park, Newcastle at 11am.

Always held on the nearest weekend to Memorial Sunday ín memory of the athletes who perished in both world wars, they are always well supported and over 600 entríes have been received online with a limit of 700.

Junior races for under 13, 15 and 17 girls and boys precede the senior event and a minute’s silence will be held at 11am.

Changing, registration and the presentation will be in the Royal Grammar School.

Park Runs continue tomorrow at South Shields, Sunderland, Newcastle, Gateshead, Whitley Bay, Chester le Street and Durham.

All races are over 5km at 10am.
