Bosses at a South Tyneside hospice are asking people to think of them over the festive period.
As Christmas approaches, St Clare’s Hospice is launching its Sign & Share campaign.
The scheme is a way that people can make a donation to the charity, which offers palliative care to the people of South Tyneside with life-limiting illnesses, in lieu of Christmas cards while still passing on some festive cheer.
The idea behind the campaign is that instead of sending Christmas cards, individuals, groups and workplaces can write their Christmas message on a festive poster for all to see and pass on a donation to the charity.
The campaign also provides a more environmentally-friendly way to pass on Christmas wishes to a lot of people.
Sonia Graham, senior fundraiser for the hospice in Primrose Terrace, Jarrow, said: “The Christmas poster can be put up in an area such as a staff room, canteen, office, recreation room or community hall. Participants can then write festive greetings to each other on the poster, whilst signing their name on the donation form.

“The great thing about donating in lieu of cards this way is that it enables the charity to claim gift aid where applicable, making everybody’s donations goes further towards our patient’s care.”
Each year St Clare’s relies on the generous donations in lieu of cards both from individuals and from workplaces to raise funds for their services.
