He said: “The goals will come, we just need to keep working hard and putting the ball in the box.”

Roofing face the trip to Aycliffe whose last outing was a 2-1 victory at home to South Shields.

The hosts’ had an extremely successful season last term, with victory in the Durham Challenge Cup and record runs in both the FA Cup and FA Vase.

Those results were helped by the arrival of former Roofer John Campbell and McLoughlin is ready for the challenge.

“They’re a really good side so I’m expecting a tough game.

“It’s really important we’re up for it and switched on,” he added.

Campbell, who scored 25 goals in his debut season with Roofing before leaving to play professionally in the Football League, will be looking to get one over his former club, who will have to be careful in order to ensure that his goal scoring prowess does not cancel out that of the likes of Paul Chow and Michael Mackay.

McLoughlin will be boosted by the return of Nick Hays to his matchday squad but will be without the injured Kris Hughes.

Kick-off at Moore Lane Park is at 3pm.
