Tyneside X Factor fans will be eagerly anticipating the last concert of the summer at Bents Park this weekend as a trio of talent show favourites sing to their home crowd.
Fans are urged to get there early on Sunday by organisers South Tyneside Council after crowds of about 24,000 turned out to see Billy Ocean recently.
Music lovers are expected to be travelling to the gig from as far as Belfast to see stars including Joe McElderry and Lola Saunders. X Factor winner Joe, is returning to the festival by popular demand after attracting record crowds in 2011.
The 24-year-old who topped the charts with his debut single The Climb in 2009, also won reality shows Popstar to Operastar and The Jump, and released four successful studio albums. He will be joined by former fishmonger and fellow X Factor star Lola Saunders, from East Boldon.
Lola, who made it to the live finals of the ITV1 talent show last year, said: “It’s quite nerve-racking but also nice that my friends and family will be in the audience supporting me.”
Washington’s Jamie Lambert will also appear with his Britain’s Got Talent winning band, Collabro. The musical theatre boy band stormed to victory on the ITV talent show in 2014,.
There will also be an appearance by talented South Shields teenager, Eve Simpson.
Gates for the gig, supported by Port of Tyne, Dicksons and Colmans, will open at 1pm.
Coun Alan Kerr, deputy leader of South Tyneside Council, with responsibility for culture and leisure, said: “We have had amazing audiences in Bents Park over the past few weeks and we expect that our North East Stars concert will once again get people turning out in their thousands to give our talented singers the welcome home they truly deserve.”
