Laffalang producer Gareth Hunter said: “The Laffalang is great fun and we have already established a strong following. We’re also delighted that so many top comedians want to work with us.

“The Valentine Laffalang will be another cracking show. Top North East comedian Mickey Hutton will compere another 17 brand new, rib-tickling sketches.”

The all-new Valentine sketches, penned by South Shields playwright Ed Waugh, include Geordie rhyming slang, an incompetent Cupid, a disastrous first date and Widow Twanky transported to the Land of Ozzy.

The show will star long-standing Laffalang favourites Bob Stott, Craig Richardson, Viktoria Kay, Stephen Sullivan and newcomers Steven Stobbs and Sarah Boulter.

Legendary North East comedian Bobby Pattinson will also be joining the show.

The 82-year-old said: “I’m a regular attendee of the Laffalang and it’s great fun, so when I was invited to perform at the Christmas charity show I couldn’t refuse. I’m delighted to be asked back to do a 10-minute spot.”

The South Tyneside troupe have again been asked to work with the entertainment charity Sunday for Sammy to perform sketches with new writers. Following on from the initial Sunday for Sammy success last year, the gang will be performing A Sketch for Sammy at The Stand, Newcastle, in August.

Summer will be a busy time for Laffalang because July will also see a special event to celebrate Bob Stott’s comedy legacy, from starting in pantomime at the Westovians, through his time on the panto stage at the Customs House and now starring as Widow Twanky in the Laffalang. An autumn Laffalang and a fourth Christmas charity special are also planned.
