Letter of the week: South Tyneside hospital changes are shocking but not surprising

I am shocked but then again not surprised at the closures being made to our local hospital.

Campaigners protesting against changes to services at South Tyneside Hospital.

Consultations may have been held but the powers that be never in my view had any intention of listening to what the people want.

I think transferring some of our services to Sunderland is shocking.

They may argue that it is for a better service but it will never replace the comfort of knowing when you are ill you have a local hospital go to for treatment.
