Zack Curry made his stage debut at the Customs House, South Shields, as part of the Chloe and Liam Together Forever Variety Show held at the weekend.

The teenager had been in secret rehearsals with headline act The Waiters in order to perform the Ed Sheeran hit Shape of You. Zack took on the song’s rap, as rapped by English star Stormzy.

Chloe, 17 and Liam, 19, were among the 22 killed in the Manchester Arena bomb attack in May, last year.

The act was one of a number which helped to make the night, described by organisers as a “huge success” and helping to raise £3,950 for the Trust which supports aspiring young performers and sportspeople through the use of bursaries, to help them reach their full potential.

Other performers included singers, dance schools, comedians and acrobats, from across the region.

Event organiser Stephen Sullivan said: “When Zack came on stage to do the Stormzy rap, he surprised everyone.

“Nobody had any idea he was doing it. We had to make sure we did the soundcheck in secret before anyone else came into the Customs House.

“He’d been working with the Waiters, and it was a great touch by them. It was absolutely incredible and everyone loved it.”

Stephen added: “The night was such a success. It was incredible to see so many people come together to support this fantastic Trust.

“The level of talent was incredible and made for an astounding night’s entertainment. I have to say a huge thank you to everyone involved, not just the performers, but the stage crew, people selling raffle tickets, those helping out back stage, basically everyone that was involved in any way.

“I’d also like to thank the families of Chloe & Liam for once again trusting me to organise this show and supporting me throughout.

“I look forward to The Chloe & Liam Together Forever Variety Fundraiser 2019!”
