Dazzling lights, festive drumming and camels will get Christmas started in South Tyneside on Friday.
Ocean Road which will come alive in an explosion of colour and sound from 5pm, with a drumming procession, the Three Wise Men travelling by camel and live music from Bessie and the Zinc Buckets.
Those enjoying the fun will be treated to a sensational firework display at the town's pier to well and truly launch the festive season.
Coun Alan Kerr, Deputy Leader of South Tyneside Council, said: “The Borough’s famous camel parade is bigger and better than ever with an array of sensational seasonal entertainment, live music, vibrant lighting and of course an amazing fireworks display. It’s a festive evening not to be missed.
“I am sure the parade with its new route will get everyone in South Tyneside into the Christmas spirit as the camels walk down the newly transformed Ocean Road.
"Friday evening boasts everything you would expect to see at Christmas plus a great deal of wow factor packed into a great free family event."
Visitors to the event are being encouraged to don their warmest coats, line Ocean Road to wait for the camels to arrive and see the celebrations through to the fireworks.
From Saturday, a glittering lights display will be on in St Hilda's Church Gardens featuring polar bears, penguins and reindeer - as well as Santa and his sleigh.
