Man and woman charged with fraud offences following investigation in South Shields Day Trips Facebook page

Two people are to appear in court charged with fraud offences after a police probe into a Facebook travel agent site.

Ashleigh Turbitt, 25, and her partner Christopher Clark, 33, both of Belloc Avenue, South Shields have been charged with conspiracy to commit fraud after an investigation into South Shields Day Trips, Northumbria Police confirmed.

A statement from DC Darren Mackins on Facebook read: "Following a large scale enquiry into the Facebook page 'South Shields Day Trips' a file of evidence was submitted to the Crown Prosecution Service in November 2015.

"After reviewing the evidence the CPS arrived at a decision last week.

"I can confirm that today Ashleigh Turbitt and her partner Christopher Clark have been charged with conspiracy to commitfraud.

"Both have been bailed pending a court date to be arranged."
