Man arrested after knife incident in Jarrow

A man has been arrested after a knife incident in Jarrow today.

A man was arrested on suspicion of possessing an offensive weapon and a knife recovered in the Broomfield area of Jarrow's Hedworth Estate today

Police were called out to the Broomfield area on the Hedworth Estate at 7.50am after a report that a man had been seen in possession of a knife.

Officers arrested a 21-year-old man on suspicion of possessing an offensive weapon.

A knife was recovered and the man is currently in police custody.
