Man dies after fall from North East tower block

Police were called to Walker, at 9.19am today, following concerns for a man inside a flat in Hexham House.

Officers attended and, along with family members of the man, entered the property to try and speak to him.

While they were inside the property, the man fell from a window of the flat.

Officers attempted CPR on the man until paramedics arrived, however, he was pronounced dead at the scene.

Enquiries are ongoing.

The Independent Police Complaints Commission (IPCC) has been informed of the incident, as is matter of course for any death where there has been police contact.
