Man goes on trial accused of murder at South Shields pub

A jury has been sworn in at the trial of a man accused of murder at a South Shields pub.

Ronnie Howard, 31, died after an incident at the Prince Edward in Prince Edward Road in May.

Michael Wilson, 35, of Hylton Avenue in the town, denies murder.

He will be tried by a jury at Newcastle Crown Court.

The trial is expected to last up to five days.

Prosecutor Mark Guiliani will open the case to the jury this afternoon.
