Man left with serious injuries after being robbed at Tyne Dock Metro Station

A man was left with serious injuries after being robbed of cash at a Metro station in South Shields.

The 29-year-old was at Tyne Dock in South Shields when he was approached by a gang of three men.

He was verbally abused, punched and kicked before a quantity of cash was taken from him.

Police are treating the attack, which happened at 9pm on Friday, as a robbery.

Emergency services were called to the place and the victim was taken to hospital with what police described as “serious but non-life threatening”injuries.

The man has since been discharged.

Three men aged 35, 20 and 18, have been arrested on suspicion of robbery and released on police bail.

An appeal for witnesses has now been launched by officers investigating the attack and robbery.
