Charity Marie Curie is looking for enthusiastic people raring to engage with the local community in South Shields, Hebburn, Jarrow, Boldon and Cleadon.

The charity is encouraging local people to join the South Shields Fundraising Group and make a difference, all while meeting new people in the area, having fun and helping to secure the ongoing support delivered by Marie Curie.

All are welcome to an informal meeting on March 23 at 6.30pm at One Trinity Green, Eldon Street, South Shields, to find out more about the group and to see what you can get involved with.

As a Fundraising Group member, volunteers will become a key component in a passionate team, devoted to raising much-needed funds and raise as much awareness as possible.

With other group members, they will organise collections, fundraising events and other awareness activities. Fundraising Groups will also promote the work of the charity and encourage support for Marie Curie within their local community.

Community Fundraiser Charlotte Campbell said: “Joining the South Shields Fundraising Group is a wonderful way to play an important role in the work of a national charity at a local level, make new friendships and engage with your community.

“We’re really excited and it will make a huge difference locally by helping to raise awareness of the free care Marie Curie provides to people with terminal illnesses in the local area.”

Anyone interested in joining the group can contact Charlotte on 0191 219 1234 or at
