Speaking exclusively to the Gazette, the Frenchman revealed that he is not happy with his lack of first-team game time since recovering from injury at the turn of the year.

But he accepts with so many good players available to manager Rafa Benitez, he will have to continue to bide his time.

“He talks to me. He talks to everyone,” said Haidara about his contact with former Real Madrid and Liverpool boss Benitez.

“He has told me that he cannot play everyone and that some players must stay away from the first-team.

“But there are many games left until May and who knows if I will get my chance. Either way I will be ready if I am needed.”

Haidara has suffered five separate knee injuries since arriving at United from Nancy in January 2013, the last of which saw him miss more than 15 months of football on Tyneside.

Because of that the former France youth international knows he cannot just walk back into the starting XI.

And he knows he is not alone in feeling frustrations.

“There are many players here with the same frustrations because we are not playing,” he said.

“This is a problem when a team has so many good players.

“We have a big squad. A quality squad.

“But every player must keep pushing. If we all do that we will get better as a team.”
