Metro chiefs have apologised this morning as more delays hit commuters.

Passengers face Metro delays of up to 15 minutes.

Passengers are facing delays of 15 minutes between Airport and South Hylton; St James and South Shields; South Gosforth and Pelaw due to an earlier signal fault.

Tyne and Wear Metro are advising passengers allow extra time where possible.

On Twitter a Metro spokesman said: "We will get back on timetable asap and some services may be changed at short notice.

"We apologise for any inconvenience."
