A motorbike rider was taken to hospital after a crash with a van in South Tyneside.

Police received a call at 2.45pm today after a collision between a van and a motorbike on Black Road, Hebburn.

The rider was taken to hospital but he did not have any life-threatening injuries.

The vehicles have been removed from the scene and police were there to assist with traffic. The road remained open.
