A South Tyneside mum is celebrating being crowned a ‘loser’ after slimming down to a size 10.
Heather Blakie has lost a life-changing three stone after joining the Slimming World group based in Whitburn because she piled on the pounds after pregnancy.
Now after embarking on the club’s Food Optimising eating plan, she has slimmed down from a size 16 to size 10.
Heather, who’s gone from 13st 9 to 10st 11, while still enjoying her favourite meals like pasta and curries, said: “I feel like a new woman since losing weight – in fact, I look so different that people who I haven’t seen for a while often can’t believe I’m the same person.
“For me, though, it’s the change on the inside that’s been the greatest – I’m happier, healthier and much more confident now.”
“I had put on a lot of weigh while pregnant, and needed help to get it off. I constantly deleted photos my partner had taken of me and my baby and that made me really sad.
“My weight impacted on so many aspects of my life, from struggling to find clothes that I like to fit to not being able to do simple everyday tasks without feeling tired and out of breath.”
The 29-year-old, from Whitburn, was inspired to join the group, run by Angela Wilkinson at the Barnes Institute, after being inspired by a friend’s weight loss.
Angela, said: “The changes we’ve seen in Heather are incredible. I hope her success will inspire other people in Whitburn who’d like to lose weight by forming new lifestyle habits and become happier and healthier to take action.
“There’s a warm welcome waiting at Slimming World and, just think, if you start today, you could feel like a completely new person just like Heather.”
The Whitburn group meets on Tuesdays at 7.30pm. For details, call Angela on 07793 652 133.
